New technology and recording equipment will be used to catch the fly-tippers and litter bugs who are defiling Horsham district, the local council has announced.
Film footage will be used to catch those responsible and enable the council to take action that could lead to five years in jail and unlimited fines.
“The council faces an ongoing battle with litter being strewn on the roadsides across Horsham District and an increase in the incidences of fly-tipping,” the council said. “The appearance of litter on roadsides is a blight on our environment and its clearance currently costs local taxpayers around £100,000 a year.”
The council says the crackdown will be launched ‘in worst hit areas’, and is encouraging locals to report anyone they see doing it.
